Quantification Clarification
Mon, Nov 24 2003
I hate to quote myself, but, dang it, sometimes when I'm right I'm right:
When referring to numbers using non-specific decriptive terms, please apply the following guide to ensure you use the correct terminology and avoid confusing the bleeping bleeps out of your readers:
A or an = one couple = two few = three to five some = four to ten several = five to a couple dozen quite a few = eight to a couple dozen many = ten to a couple dozen bunch = ten to a couple dozen umpteen = one to two dozen bunches = twenty or more lot or lots = twenty or more heap or heaps = more than 50 kerjillion = more than 100
Come on, people; it's not difficult. Sheesh
