Picture Me This?

Apple introduced the iPod Photo yesterday, which is essentially a super-expensive version of its popular portable digital music player with a tiny color screen. You can use iTunes to load images onto the thing, and display them on the screen or, with a $40 add-on cable, on some TVs.
I honestly can't see a purpose for such a device, which I suspect means it will be a smash hit for Apple. If there's one thing Apple's recent product history demonstrates, it's a clear disconnect from people like me.
