Cary Lu
Remembered

In 1975 I showed Cary my newest tabletop animation, "Hank the Cave Peanut," in the hope that he would contract with me to produce films for Infinity Factory, a math education television series that aired on PBS. In the subsequent two years, Cary and I worked together on about a dozen short "peanut movies." His brisk, knowledgeable manner and high standards for quality inspired respect, while his helpfulness, good humor, and appreciation for the work of others made his friendship most rewarding. Though the distance between Boston and Seattle limited the amount of time we spent together in recent years, we got together annnually, and I was with him through some of his final days. I've never known anyone like Cary; he was in a class by himself, and I'll never forget him.
