I had never met Cary Lu in person, but had corresponded several times with him via email. When I first started My Mac Magazine, I wanted to reprint a article he had written. At the time, My Mac was a very new and unknown magazine, but Cary was very generous in allowing me to reprint it.
Several emails later, and some great writing advice, My Mac started to get much bigger. I credit much of the advice Cary gave me to that success, and am very saddened by his untimely death.
Cary was a great guy, and he shall be missed.
