I did not know who Cary Lu was when I first contacted him several years ago about the newsletter he designed for a local bookstore. I had several questions about scanning and reproducing newsletters. He was so kind and spoke to me as if I were an equal. Some time after that I discovered that he was a rather famous computer expert. I still managed to speak to him one day when I heard someone speak his name in the bookstore and remember him as gracious (although a bit distracted with children!). His wonderful book on the Macintosh is really amazing for the amount of technical information he could convey. I was shocked to hear of his passing and feel grateful for having been touched in some way by his life.
