I didn't know Cary Lu at all, but I avidly read his columns in Macworld and always enjoyed his simple and lucid prose. I once had a question and, with some trepidation, e-mailed Cary with it. Imagine my surprise when an influential and busy computer expert like Cary sent me a complete and succinct summary of what I could do to remedy the problem I was experiencing--and within twenty-four hours! Here was clearly a man who didn't let fame and influence overcome his basic instinct to help others.
I was saddened to learn of Cary's passing. May he rest in peace.
