Cary Lu
Remembered

Paul Pease[hidden]@ix.netcom.com

I was on an expensive press tour with a client and stopped in Cary Lu's office at INC in Boston. We wanted to do a demo with the barely-portable Unix behemoth we had dragged around the East, but when we got to Cary's office, we discovered we needed a straight-through null modem in order to make it work. "No problem," Cary said, reaching into a drawer full of cables. He rewired the pins on one end of a serial cable he found, and our demo went on as scheduled.

You have no idea how many other editors would have just said, "Oh, darn. Too bad. Just tell me what I would have seen."

A great man. A great loss.

My condolences to Cary's family.
