Cary Lu Remembered |
01-Oct-1997 I worked with Cary in Boston about 10 years ago when I was as a copy editor at High Technology magazine. At the time I was working two jobs, so I obviously didn't have a whole lot of money. When Cary moved back West, he put up a sign to sell some of his things that he didn't want to take with him. I asked him about a Polaroid camera he had advertised. He was going to sell it to me, and then changed his mind and said -- "Just take it. I'm not going to charge you for it. The film costs a lot of money, which is why I don't want to keep it." I've kept that camera and have used it a lot over the years, and every time I use it, I think of his generousity and kindness in giving it to me. I'm saddened to hear of his passing. He was very pleasant and easy to work with. |
